Welcome to the Silver Street Neighbourhood Watch & Community website.

Neighbourhood Watch is one of the best examples of how the police and community can work together to reduce crime and the fear of crime.
Neighbourhood Watch is the largest voluntary organisation in the country covering an estimated 166,000 households. Neighbourhood Watch is a group of residents getting together to make their neighbourhoods a better and safer place to live.
Neighbourhood Watch schemes can:
- Help reduce crime and the fear of crime
- Bring a community together as never before
- Encourage people to share crime prevention advice and activities
- Build a two way communication with the police
- Improve the quality of life in their neighbourhood
- Help residents feel more secure in their own homes, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, by reducing the fear of crime knowing that neighbours and friends are nearby keeping an eye out for them.
- Create a relationship with the Councils Safer Neighbourhood Team which will give us access to their support and advice.
Overall, a Neighbourhood Watch is as effective as its members choose it to be. |

Our group would like to thank the South Yorkshire Police Authority for their support in granting us an ABC Award, this funding will enable our group to meet the costs of venue hire, stationary costs and street signage.
It will allow our group to continue forging relationships with our local P.C.S.O.’s and our Safer Neighbourhood Team.
